Thank you for taking the time to look at my website, I am confident you will find something that interests you whether you are an experienced diver looking for quality further training, or someone who is looking to start their underwater adventure.
My name is Matt and I have been diving for a long time, my father was a military diver and later moved into working in the oil and gas industry, so consequently I have been around diving all my life.
I started my working diving life as soon as I was old enough to qualify, I trained as a commercial diver obtaining HSE qualifications at levels 1,2,3 and 4 as well as qualifications from the French issuing body and IMCA as a diver medical technician and life support technician and commercial supervisor. I worked all over the world inshore and offshore air and mixed gas diving.
I became a PADI instructor in 1994 and at present teach all courses up to assistant instructor and twenty five specialties, I have received the elite instructors award and have owned or managed several five star centres.
I have been teaching technical diving through TDI since 1998 and teach all open circuit courses in the TDI curriculum. I qualified to teach rebreather diving the same year and at present teach on several different units, all of which I own.
I also teach advanced wreck and cavern courses in addition to gas blending and oxygen technician courses.
In 2022 I became an instructor trainer for SDI/TDI the highest level achievable .
I also served as diving officer for the British Antarctic survey at Rothera base on the Antarctic peninsular and as a staff diver for the UK environment agency. I am a qualified cave diver with IANTD.
Over the course of my diving career I have dived deeper and longer than most, ran live a board boats in the Red sea and Cayman islands and operated my own charter vessels on the UK south coast as well as running successful technical diving centres.
I have logged over twenty thousand dives in a variety of conditions that very few divers in the world will ever experience.
I feel it is impossible for a diving instructor at whatever level or with whatever training agency to properly teach a course they have little practical experience in, I believe you owe it to yourself to seek out the best possible training for whichever level of diving you wish to undertake.
My teaching style is relaxed and friendly, I do not agree with the harsh pseudo military/commercial training some instructors seem to favour. I am one of the few instructors you will find that has actually completed this training and worked at that level and believe that instructors that teach in this manner have not really been “there”.
I guarantee that the training you receive from me will be thorough and at a level most can’t deliver. You will be treated politely and with respect at all times and together we will work towards the goal you wish to achieve.
Many of my student have become life long friends that dive with me year after year, I have a one hundred percent safety record for all diving operations I have undertaken.
Above all I believe your training should be enjoyable and interesting as well as challenging and after the dive is over we all tend to socialise together, I usually learn as much from my students as they learn from me
Finally, please consider that if government agencies and multi-national companies employ me for training and supervision maybe you should do the same
I hope to hear from you soon.
